I had never heard of Natural Movement and why it was different than the exercises I was doing at the gym. Until 4 years ago I was prescribed orthotics for plantar fasciitis and was losing sleep due to hip pain. After working with Teya I have walked away from the gym and I’m now sleeping soundly pain free. Teya helped me discover what I was doing to cause my symptoms and how taking care of my Home, garden and family is an all day movement opportunity. I thank her often, especially when I’m Barefoot and climbing trees with my grandchildren.
When I was younger, I played multiple sports and took for granted my health and mobility. Months after I turned 30, I hobbled into Teya’s studio with a broken fibula - wondering how on earth my body is going to sustain another 30 years. The big question on my mind: what should I be doing differently?Prior to my first session I gave little thought to my feet beyond being a couple faraway blocks of shoes, merely an appendage to my legs. Learning about all the muscles that can be awoken under my feet, optimal stance and gait, and which various movement practices I should be doing everyday made all the difference. The more I look around, the more pain and discomfort I see. I didn’t want to me among the populous that accepted this kind of suffering. The treatment is not to do less and insulate yourself from the earth (via orthopedic shoes), but rather to reconnect with it again through a barefoot lifestyle.Theres so much more depth to Teya’s teachings than “physical therapy” - I walk away with more heightened awareness about why things are the way they are within me, my career, and my family. She’s a modern day medicine woman, with such a kind and innate sense of wisdom.
Teya is a compassionate and experienced guide she supports me in improving my physical and emotional health. Teya supports my growth with practical practices and shows genuine concern for my progress. Her patience and energy are boundless. There have been many times when I’ve thought to myself I must remember an exact phrase she said to me, to remind myself when I’m not with her. Her words are layered with honesty and wisdom.
Honestly, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. Observing Teya and those that she sourrounds herself with I knew I’d be in for a treat. What I needed was a way to incorporate appropriate movement techniques into daily life and ditch the smelly gym and what I “thought” was restorative was degenerative. Literally everything out of her mouth is gospel. From family to life changes to personal growth, she’s the one I share with and value her opinion. She’s lived it. Learned it. And truly walks the walk.
From the moment I met her and every moment since, she has and continues to feed me a wealth of information which has allowed me to absolutely feel and think differently. I now have a storage bin of tools and practices of which to pull from when I am in need.
